Altendorf Group at LIGNA 2019

At this year’s LIGNA, the Altendorf Group is introducing itself for the first time to the international
trade-fair audience. Hebrock edge banding machines and Altendorf sliding table saws will be displayed together at the booth in Hall 12. The edge banding machines have been redesigned. They now bear a strong resemblance to the design of the Altendorf F 45 sliding table saw, the winner of multiple awards. This step has given an even sharper edge to the machine profile of the Altendorf Group. The Altendorf Group will also inform about its latest innovations, options and product improvements regarding both product lines. In addition, the company will devote much space to the overarching themes of digitalization for the craftsmen and occupational safety. Digital services and connected machines, to one another and to areas such as office, material warehouses, purchasing and work
preparation, will also be discussed. Safety for all machine categories will be a key issue in
product development at the Altendorf Group in future years.
A focus on themes of the future.
One major goal of the Altendorf Group is not only to address themes of the future in the
handcraft sector, but also to act as a momentum generator in this area. The topic of
digitalization is a top priority here. Digitalization projects tailored to the needs of the international
handcraft sector can be carried out much faster in the Group than they could have
been by the individual companies. Under the Altendorf Group’s plans, digital services will
play a bigger role in the future as a way of accelerating the process of offering the company’s
entire service range to the market. One possible option would involve expanding the
online registration of machines in order to provide faster and better spare part and repair
services. The range of online maintenance support will be expanded significantly to reduce
machine downtime. With the help of an international online user platform, the Altendorf
Group intends to integrate its customers into a broad range of processes. Various forums
will provide customers and users with the opportunity to share their views, a step designed
to strengthen the global user community. Crowd sourcing is to be used as a way to develop
products that customers actually need in order to work even more successfully in future.
The term “product” does not refer exclusively to hardware. Service products are expressly
being considered as well: remote services, financing solutions, online trainings, service on
demand and much more.
After the acquisition of the Altendorf company in 2017, the investor Avedon together with the
management team devised a concept that shows how they would position the company in
the near future: The Altendorf Group would become a supplier of high-quality machines for
the international craft businesses in the field of panel-based furniture manufacturing. In addition
to the classical sliding table saw two additional categories of machines are planned,
the Altendorf Group will become partner of the handcraft sector in the areas of cutting, edging
and CNC boring.
The first steps to successfully implement this concept around the world have already been
taken: Hebrock, a company based in eastern Westphalia, Germany, whose edge-banding
machines have made an international name for themselves, has been integrated into the
Altendorf Group since April 2018, further acquisitions are planned. The Altendorf Group
America was established in Mooresville, North Carolina at the beginning of 2019.
